In the New Year, CSI, 10 PhD scholarships to Oxford University .... Academic and Engineering Job Opportunities for the week ending 10 January 2014
Hello everyone,
It is almost a week in to the new year. How time flies? Someone said, "how you begin a thing matters". Among my favourite television shows (perhaps I would say the only series I watch, if it would not make me seem pitiable!) is the Crime Scene Investigation or CSI. It typically starts with some exotic scene such as a party, a scream and someone is discovered knocked off without their shoes. The next 45 minutes you are glued to the edge of your seat wondering who killed who and what happened to those shoes. The way we start is important not just how we end.
The funny thing about time transitions and by this I refer to seasons, days, weeks, months and years is that each epoch starts where the other has left off. Unless you determine to do something different nothing will change. Great success does not happen by accident. We may live in different countries but we all have the same amount of time. We may speak different languages but we know success when we see it. What we do with our time and the opportunities that we come across determine our lot in life. Rather than wait for 'time to tell' as some people say, I prefer to 'tell time'. That means being proactive, getting out there and pursuing my dreams with singleminded purpose.
The chase is fraught with risk just as dead ends do hurt but if it is only ONE life, our responsibility is to make the most of it. Sometimes following the well beaten path may seem safe and predictable but it could also lead you to a mediocre destination. The "ending may be everything" but the journey is its own reward. Therefore making new year resolutions to "go to gym", "work harder", "develop myself" will not produce any lasting change unless they are accompanied by concrete targets.
In 2014 I intend to simplify the process of applying for scholarships and international academic job vacancies. I will also launch KnowledgeCreations and complete my PhD research by God's grace. I will keep you up to date as things progress but right now we have a few scholarship opportunities that may interest you. The star opportunity for this week is from Oxford University.
Have a prosperous 2014 and God bless us all.
