Hello everyone, It is clear that opportunities abound from the simple to the profound but the question remains "where may they be found"? Week after week this blog presents opportunities to win scholarships, opportunities for career advancement and opportunities to improve yourself. If something is free does that make it cheap? Not at all. Some of my readers were born in developed societies and can not imagine a life without choices or freedom. Yet some of my readers were born in other restrictive societies with only the "illusion of choice". How do these two worlds converge? Hello everyone, I am pleased with the number of people from developing countries and America that are seizing the educational opportunities provided by my weekly blog. In between jobs as a consultant and frenetic work to conclude my PhD research you can say that time is my scarcest resource. So why do I keep posting the opportunities out? The answer is quite simple really. Everyone in life deserves a leg up the success ladder. For people like me from not-so-rich backgrounds, education is one guarantee of upward social mobility. Moreover it makes sense to link hardworking people with big dreams but no resources to high calibre universities with large resources but no determined students. You can say it is a match made in heaven. Both those on the left and right agree that education is a right not a privilege. To the conservatives I dare say that academic scholarships are not a hand out but requires focus and determination to win one. And to the progressives understand that awarding a
